Join our half day tour a half day afternoon trip from Athens full of images. Begin your Sounion tour with a wonderful drive along the scenic coastal road which affords a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf, passing through some of Athens most beautiful suburbs (Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza). As you approach Cape Sounion, it rises like a sheer cliff out of the sea. At Cape Sounion you will visit the 5th century B.C. temple of Poseidon with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world (on a clear day you can see at least seven islands). The precipice is a sheer 197 foot drop to the sea.

Depart for one day trip from Athens to Delphi to explore one of the most famous archaeological sites of Greece. Along the way, you will see the plain of Boeotia, an agricultural center and you will also pass by the city of Theva, the birthplace of King Oedipus.
You will continue your Delphi day tour towards Mt. Parnassus, making a short rest stop outside the town of Levadia. The tour continues then to Delphi, known in ancient times as the navel of the world. Take a day cruise from Athens to the fabulous Greek islands of Hydra, Poros and Aegina for a relaxing day on the sea. With all your transport, transfers and buffet lunch organized, you can sit back and enjoy your leisurely day cruise with free time to explore on each island. After transferring from Athens to Piraeus by motor coach, you'll set sail for the island of Poros, where you'll have free time for strolling and shopping.
Next stop is the island of Hydra. You will have about 1 hour and 45 minutes at your leisure to enjoy the unique charms of the island, the amphitheater shape of which once served as a safe shelter for Saronic Pirates. From the decks, you will be able to admire the very special architecture and dramatic landscapes of this island, whose old traditional stone houses and mansions silently stand witness to a long and turbulent history. Upon arrival in Aegina, you can either join an excursion to the Temple of Aphaia (cost not included) or take a walk around the main town. Aegina is one of the Saronic islands of Greece in the Saronic Gulf. The lovely island is only 31 miles (50 kilometers) from Athens, and is a popular getaway for Athenians during the summer months. The first day you will arrive at Delphi around noon. Famous for its theater, Temple of Apollo and ancient ruins, Delphi was considered the center of the earth and the universe, and played a central role in the classical Greek world. In the afternoon after lunch depart through Central Greece and the cities of Lamia (short stop), Trikala crossing the Thessalian plain, to Kalambaka (a small town built at the foot of the majestic grey rocks, and crowded by the METEORA Monasteries (short stop for souvenirs). From the Megaron Athens International Conference Centre (MAICC) you will make a short stop to Parko Eleftherias (Freedom Park) with a statue of El.Venizelos. During the military junta of 1967 to 1974 in Greece, the building in Parko Eleftherias was used to house the military police headquarters; the building just behind, which currently houses the Museum of Anti-dictatorial and Democratic Resistance, meanwhile, was a detention and torture facility.
You will then walk towards Byzantine & Christian Museum where you will see religious artefacts of the Early Christian, Byzantine, Medieval, post-Byzantine and later periods. The museum has over 25,000 artefacts in its possession. The artefacts date from between the 3rd and 20th century AD, and their provenance encompasses the entire Greek world, as well as regions in which Hellenism flourished. The size and range of the collections and value of the exhibits makes the Museum a veritable treasury of Byzantine and post-Byzantine art and culture.
Afterwards you will walk towards the Benaki Museum, the most impressive neoclassical building of Athens and one of the most important museums in the city, with unique and beautiful exhibits, which will introduce you to the fascinating Greek culture from antiquity to present time. You will also walk through a nice area of the centre of the city and you will admire some beautiful historical spots, monuments and government buildings.
